~ Outdoor Garden Room~

Welcome to my outdoor room!

I usually treat this space like indoors, because it’s used as

an extended room to our home, the only problem is…

I’d rather work out here than than on the inside!

I  also use this area as a summer craft room, as well as, entertaining.  The 100 + year old bricks were recycled from an old Distillery that was torn down several years ago.

(I will eventually get around to posting how we created this space…and show step by step construction.)

This week I completed one project that was on my to do list and that was… to make

drop cloth curtains for the barbecue shed.

These were so easy!  No sewing…just clipped to the rod and they also help hide

some of the gardening tools.

Just as I was just putting away my tools the rain started pouring down,  literally,  by the bucketful's!

I was so happy and THANKFUL!

I grabbed my camera and ducked under the barbecue shed…

I couldn’t believe how relaxing it was,

sitting under there, listening to the rain

thinking…if only I had a nice bottle of chilled wine, maybe a few crackers and cheese,

it could have rained all day!.Smile

Bob’s hair was looking much better before the drought.

I love chalk board paint….I believe it will work on just about anything.

I made this chalk board today out of a piece of dried wood.

I’m thinking… this should be all one sentence.

Most gardens have statues, concrete rabbits or something stately….

Would you believe we decided on a whimsical rat fountain?

Since we live so close to the river, residents in this area have long

been called called river rats, we think

it adds that little bit of southern quirkiness to the garden.

Boxwoods define the garden’s formal pattern along with the backdrop of

lavender for fragrance.

Crepe Myrtle and boxwoods are planted on the opposite ends of the courtyard to create a flow.

I read somewhere that gardens are like kids, they evolve over time and I

think that’s so true.

You don’t necessarily need a lot of space to make an outdoor room, just enough to

establish some privacy,  provide comfortable seating, and grow

some gorgeous plants.

If you have Crepe Myrtles or if they may be in your future gardening plans, here’s a great

article on how to keep them properly trimmed.

Thanks for joining me in my outdoor room today…

Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

See you soon!

Your outdoor room is fantastic! I love the look of the old bricks and the way you've furnished and planted the area. Gorgeous.

I love Bob's hair.... no wonder he looks a little grumpy, he didn't expect to have this outrageous hairstyle at his age.

What a lovely spot. The curtains are wonderful and add so much to the space. Bob and his hair is terrific. I have been admiring that planter for years. Your flowers are so pretty. Great touches everywhere and the whimsical rat fountain is one of a kind. I am your newest follower.

It's a very cosy place to work in. Actually, not only to work but also to dine in and simply relax. Thanks for sharing.
