Art in the Garden

Hi Friends,
We’re back at the lake cottage for a couple of days….two times in less than a month!
Anyway, this morning I decided I was going to work on a piece of art that’s been on my to do list.
I think this quote by leonardo da vinci says it all….if your spirit isn’t in it, there’s no art.  My spirit has been somewhere else for some time now, and I’m really trying to get it back.

What a perfect beautiful, summer morning!  It’s the perfect morning to get an art project completed.

While I’m trying to concentrate on my art…..

this little guy started singing…..
Art in the Garden
and Mr. Wasp definitely caught my attention…….

and these little guys can be very annoying….

This little guy stopped by…..

and of course…..there’s always this fellow, waiting (sometimes) patiently ……

to swim here….
it’s almost lunch time, and now it’s too hot to paint outside…. guess I’ve missed another opportunity to create art!
My inspiration for this piece came from Cottage Style Magazine.  This article was written by Debra Steilen and if you would like to see more beautiful beach inspiration click on her name.

I love the simplicity and color…..now if only I had the lamp, table, rope, weights and ART!
What inspires your creative side?  I’m sure you’re not a procrastinator like me….
Thanks again for stopping by, I appreciate you!

Creating Kitchen Art

What kind of art do you like?

This little bunch of mint jumped out at me while I was grocery shopping today.
It’s bright green color just made me happy.

I created this piece in late September.    Today, while I was deleting and cleaning up my photo’s
I just happened to see where I had taken a few shots during the creating process.

I find as many real visuals or subjects that I can.

You can always switch things around a little or add things to your art.
For instance, in the inspiration photo
both onion’s were taken with only the top’s showing,
I chose to turn one upside down and paint the bottom
and the top.

If you want to know how to paint an onion you can Google, how to paint an onion, and
there’s usually a u tube video that will give you clear step by step instructions.

I looked around
in my garden and saw this little weed…
its roots were the perfect visual for painting the thyme root.

When your masterpiece is finished, and the paint is dry…
spray lightly with a transparent sealer.
Again you can find all of these things at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

due to the lighting, they really don’t look quiet this purple in my kitchen.
Seriously…if you can draw a straight line….you can create a piece of art, your very own art.
One of my favorite quotes…..
Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.  ~Stella Adler

Happy 4th of JULY !

Hello everyone!
I’ve been having a great time here in Western KY this week .  The weather has been just right and I decided that I would get caught up on my painting.
I’ve been looking at this little jewel for 3 months and decided that today was the day.  Here she is.
My Asparagus painting 002
I’ve been looking at this rooster painting on Linen for several months and thought it might be fun to paint on my left over drop cloth scrape fabric so I decided I would just dabble in paint today..
My Inspiration……here from Pottery Barn.

I don’t know how many of you paint but if you are like me you can only paint when you want to and what you want to.  Well, I wanted to try this today.

As I said before since it was such a lovely day I thought I would take my painting outside on the patio.  I tried to remember what the rooster painting looked like from the above and I winged it the best I could.

Drop cloth instead of linen…now who wants to make the pillow?
Many thanks' to those of you that stop by my blog.  Hope you will find something of interest.
Wishing everyone a wonderful, safe and happy holiday.
