Hello Everyone!
I’m just checking in before New Years!
I hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas!
We woke up to the sound of QUIET this morning…..
and on my street, especially during the winter,
this can only mean one thing…..SNOW.
I grabbed my boots and camera….
someone is always ready to go with me….
and away we go for a long winter’s walk.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen the floral clock not working.
I think it’s frozen…..
anyway, after playing in the snow
and a cup of hot coffee, we took a drive through the country side.
We always drive by where my parents used to live.
My father built this shed many years ago.
I’m surprised it’s still standing…
I can still see our pony, Teddy, looking out the window.
This was our tobacco barn.
All the farmers, in those days, used to help each other
strip tobacco and get it ready for market. They would always sit around the warming stove
and tell stories.
If only I had written some of those stories down….
My husband and I went fishing in this very creek the day before our
oldest daughter was born….I can’t say how many years ago ...
just incase she reads my blog.
She loves water to this day….planning on retiring and living on her boat.
Well friends…got to go and make this soup.
Doesn’t it look yummy?
I hope you weren’t too bored with all of my reminiscing.
Maybe if I leave you with the recipe of this wonderful French Onion
soup….you’ll forgive me.
I wish you and yours a very Happy and safe New Year!
See you in 2013!

I love all the pictures! I wish we could see snow! That would be wonderful! and let's just talk about how handsome Mr. Albert is? He's gorgeous! Happy New Year! love you!
Mary,
Do you know my husband makes french onion soup every Christmas Eve? He made a big pot of it, and he heats it in the oven to let the cheese melt on top. It is delicious. This post made me so happy because I love the snow! I don't see it that often here in California, except when we go to the mountains. I love the red doors on the old shed. Your dog looks like he's lovin' the snow too. Happy New Year, Mary, and I just love coming over to your blog and seeing all your wonderful pictures.

What beautiful pictures and wonderful memories. I especially love the one about the pony looking out the window. It is absolutely lovely where you live.

Loved your photos, especially the red cardinal birds & thank you for letting us share your memories. The snow looks lovely, but please keep it as when we have snow we can't get out & about.
