Hello friends,
I thought I would check in and say hello.
I’ve been working on a few projects around the house, just haven’t gotten around
to photographing them yet.
In the meantime we’re just loving the beautiful sunshine we’ve been having here.
Today.. I thought I would share with you my somewhat scary, and expensive trip to the wildlife prairie.
Earlier last month, while we were at the lake cottage, the husband and I decided to take our
cameras and try to get a few close up shots of Elk at the nearby Elk and Bison Prairie.
Visitors can enjoy a 3.5 mile loop ride and the Buffalo and Elk roam freely within a
700 acre enclosure.
After we had driven the loop, and through the electric gates
to go home, we
noticed a group of Buffalo grazing close to the fence.
We stopped, and I walked over to the fence to take a few close-ups.
Mr. Buffalo suddenly decides he doesn’t want his picture taken, and when he starts to charge at me,
I definitely wanted more space between us than a chain length fence.
I turned around to run, tripped and fell, yep….right on top of my DSLR Nikon camera, that just happened
to have my husbands new lens attached!
(Albert’s probably going to be the closet thing to wildlife that I photograph in a while.)
To make a long story short, my camera was definitely broken, but the lens was fine,
thankfully, I didn’t break any bones.
I called Nikon and they advised us to send it to one of their repair shops.
I chose the closet one to us which was located in Morton Grove, IL.
I really can’t say enough good things about them.
Their service was great and they constantly kept me informed by email.
If you own a Nikon and it’s not working properly, I highly recommend sending it to this one.
Anyway, after it was all over and my nerves were somewhat back intact, we had a good laugh.
I believe Mr. Buffalo would make a good
candidate for some delicious Bison burgers!
