Almost every Valentine's Day I usually display a stack of old war letters that my father in law wrote to my mother in law during World War II.
I never got to meet him, but I feel like I already know him from reading some of his letters. My husband adored him, and I've heard many wonderful stories about him.
Unfortunately, he was involved in a fatal car accident when John was only 10 year's old.
What a difference email has made in our lives...for the better? I'm not always sure, it's definitely not very personal.
Thought I would shop the house for this blog post. I'm not sure who the old gloves belonged to, but I remember going for my first job interview in the late 60's, dressed in a suit and carrying white gloves. I miss the hat and gloves day's. I would have loved the roaring 20's....one of my favorite's to this day.
The blue cameo is one that my sister in law surprised me with on our way back home from our European trip. She purchased it while we were in Florence Italy. They make the most beautiful cameo jewelry. It's not only beautiful, but reminds me of our wonderful trip,
They had a remarkable marriage and love story. They wrote to each other weekly, and she saved each and everyone of his letters.
This little antique mesh purse is from the 1920-1930s era, it belonged to my elderly next door neighbor. She was such a beautiful person, I'm sure she carried it back in the day.
I was wondering... what did they carry in them? I thought possibly a handkerchief or small gloves.
I have a very good friend that always writes and sends me card's. I must follow her lead and do the same.
How about you? Do you send cards or letters to your friends and family?
She's the first one on the bottom row....white pearls.
I'm getting close to painting and revamping our family room. I've been looking for some ideas on how to artfully display and frame some of these treasures. I think I've found just the thing on Pinterest.
Love this bouquet of flowers that my husband surprised me with yesterday.....just in time for this blog post.
Wishing you and yours the best Valentine's Day ever....xxoo

Mary, these letters from your father-in-law to your mother-in-law are treasures, indeed. To keep them after all these years is special. The white glove and rose pictures are sweet and lovely. And that cameo is so pretty. You know, I love cameos too.
This is a wonderful Valentine's Day post, Mary. I think it was my favorite one I've seen. :)

Mary you know I'm a lover of all things vintage. These letters are a touching keepsake and a testament that romance endures. I'm obsessed with old door keys and hearts. Thank you for sharing your talent. (Sorry for all the deletes, I needed to edit but only saw the choice to delete.)
