We found this hemp rope at the hardware store ……. I thought it
would make the perfect cover for this thrift store lampshade.
The first thing I did…. used a straight pin to hold the end, at the top, then I started
gluing and wrapping. Sorry I didn’t take a close up…
hopefully you can get the general idea.
Just make sure that you wrap it as closely and tightly, as you can, so you
can’t see any of the lampshade and tuck under the ends.
Very simple and easy.
Now to find a different lamp base…maybe a glass one. Have you ever tried
Krylon Paint for a mercury glass effect?
I think these are lovely, but a little over my budget.
The heat and dry weather doesn’t seem to have any effect on Queen Ann’s Lace.
I found this growing on the side of the road near the lake.
It’s still one of my favorite’s, especially, in an old ball jar.
Now….what have you been up to, during this heat wave?
Pin It now!

Fortunately, there is a break in the heat here today. I really like your lampshape; I've never attempted to cover one.

Mary, does the hemp rope have a strong odor? Every time I think about buying rope at the hardware store I change my mind due to the strong smell.
I love how this turned out.
Stay cool and enjoy your week!
LOVE this! You did a fabulous job with this!!!
Hugs,
We are also experiencing a heat wave here in Italy with temps over 30C for three consecutive weeks now. I would rather be warm than cold so no complaints from me. I like the make over of the first lamp.
Love your lamp makeover - very clever and looks so pretty!
I am lovin' this lampshade...great job and now I want to do one, too.:)
