We’re spending a few days at the lake cottage trying to do a little gardening and cleaning up after a long, cold winter. The weather has been perfect until last night. We had 60 mile an hour wind, rain and tornado warnings until 1:00 AM. Can you believe it was 85 degrees yesterday and it’s 40 degree’s today? What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday I met a young 69 year old lady who lives on her sailboat nine months out of year. She loves it here. She goes to Florida during the winter months and returns during the spring. She was very interesting and I’m looking forward to meeting up with her again soon.
Last winter……
This little garden bench got a fresh coat of paint over the weekend. Hmm.. this color doesn’t look anything like British Green or Weathered grey, however, this is what the husband came home with.
We planted Braided Ruellia (Mexican sunflower) in our patio pots again this year because the Hummingbirds and bees love it and it’s also low maintenance. It drops it’s flowers every evening and starts making new ones for the next day. Amazing! I hear they grow wild in Mexico.
We also have found succulents to be another great plant that doesn’t require any special care.
The old fountain is now working…..
I think we’re just about ready…….. for boat rides, fishing and cookout’s!
I really do appreciate my new followers! Welcome!
Thank you for stopping by today.

I love the color of the bench, so bright and cheerful. The mexican sunflower is a great plant, but will sometimes take over if planted in the ground.
Happy Easter. We have had simuliar weather, 88 one day and 40 today. Now we are getting ready in case it floods. Richard at My Old Historic House
The weather seems to be in turmoil, so changeable.
Have a Happy Easter Weekend.
Oh i love your fountain! I was looking one of this.. The colour of the bench looks very 'spring' :)
I love the color of the garden bench...it's so cheerful! I have never heard of Mexican sunflowers...I'm going to have to look into those. Happy Easter!
I LOVE the color of the bench! Looks so bright and cheerful...a place that invites happy. :-) I am so anxious to get some flowers going on my patio but the wind has been consistent and awful. I do think that I'm going to go ahead and plant some that are hardy this week and see how it goes.
