Bennington Pottery/A little Spring in the Dinning Room

The sun was shining beautifully today and that always seems to help me get in the cleaning mode. I cleaned the dining room and hand washed the China along with our Bennington pottery collection.

I decided to take a break from cleaning to thumb through one of my favorite magazines, Country Living, when I saw this article about Bennington Potters blue agate spatter ware.  This was sort of like one of those meant to read articles…..especially since I was already in the process of giving our pottery a break from the wear and tear of every day use.

Bennington Pottery- such a wonderful shopping place

Here’s the Bennington Barn where the stoneware is made and created by the talented artist David Gil.  The studio mentors 12 noted sculptors and painters.

I must confess….we never purchased one piece of this wonderful pottery. It was given to us, several pieces at a time over a period of years, as a Christmas gift, from our family and I’m ever so grateful!

These photos are from the Bennington Poetry site. I like how they paired it with the neutral napkins and placemat.

I rarely photograph the inside of my home, because we have such a mix match of wood furniture, and photographing this room can be a challenge, especially if you are an amateur like me.

Sears Alahambra Entrance Hall

I’m planning on taking an Annie Sloan milk painting class soon, hopefully, to learn how to paint several of these pieces that aren’t family antiques.  I think that would also lighten things up a bit and make it a little more interesting.

French Accents in the dinning room

I added a few French accents along with my first street photography photo from the famous Brennan’s restaurant in New Orleans's.

I also read, in the article, that President elect and his family chose this same blue agate spatter ware for their White House residence,  I agree…they must have good taste!

Thank you for stopping by and I wish you and yours a very Happy Spring!

I have not heard of this pottery. I collect cobalt blue pottery and this pattern would be an excellent companion to my pieces. Love your home with the warm rick colors.

What a wonderful pottery. Thank you for sharing this interesting information. American made….fabulous! I will look for some pieces of this. Wouldn't this be perfect for a 4th of July table? ;-)

I love Bennington pottery, and the way you have yours displayed is just terrific. I love the contrast between the pottery and the style of the cabinet.
